The Jandy R0989300 is the sight glass with plug kit for Jandy top mount sand filters. It is the genuine Jandy part and arrives with the plug included.

Why the sight glass earns its place

When you backwash a sand filter you are running dirty water to waste, and the only way to know when to stop is to look at it. The sight glass is the clear window in the valve that lets you do that. Once the water behind the glass runs clear, the sand bed is clean and you can move the valve to rinse and then back to filter. Without it you are guessing, which usually means dumping more pool water than you needed to.

When to replace

Sight glasses cloud, craze and eventually leak. If yours has gone milky enough that you cannot judge the water, or it is weeping around the threads, this kit puts it right.
