  • Meteor and Eclipse Made for Pentair Meteor and Eclipse 30 inch tank sand filters.
  • May suit other filters The same ring is used on some other filter models, so compare it against your old one if your filter is not listed.
  • Seals the clamp joint This is the ring that keeps the two tank halves watertight once the clamp is closed.
  • Change it while the tank is open Rubber takes a set over the years, and a reused ring is the usual reason a filter weeps after a media change.
  • Cheap insurance A few dollars of o-ring against a leaking filter and a wet equipment pad.

Product details

Pentair 52000500 is the clamp o-ring for 30 inch tank sand filters in the Meteor and Eclipse families. It is the genuine Pentair part, not a generic ring cut to a similar size.

What it seals

On a clamped tank filter, the o-ring sits in the joint between the two halves of the tank and the clamp band squeezes it. All of the pressure holding that joint closed passes through this one piece of rubber, so a ring that has hardened, flattened or nicked will let water out no matter how tight the clamp is pulled.

When to fit one

Any time the filter is opened. If the tank has been apart for a sand change or an internals inspection, put a new ring in rather than reusing the one that has been compressed all season. Pentair notes this ring may also fit other filter models, so if your filter is not listed it is worth comparing it against the one you removed.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which filters does this o-ring fit?
It is the clamp o-ring for Pentair Meteor and Eclipse 30 inch tank sand filters. It may also fit other filter models, so compare it with the ring you have if yours is not listed.
What is the manufacturer part number?
Pentair 52000500. Order by that number if you want to be certain of the match.
Should I replace the o-ring every time I open the filter?
It is the sensible habit. The old ring has been compressed under the clamp for a season or more, and a flattened ring is the common reason a filter seeps after service.
Does this include the clamp itself?
No. This listing is the o-ring only. The clamp band and its hardware are separate parts.
