Product details

The Pentair 152290 is a replacement lateral for Triton II TR40, TR50 and TR60 sand filters. Laterals are the slotted plastic fingers at the bottom of the tank that let clean water out while holding the sand back. When one cracks, sand shows up in the pool and it is time to open the tank.

This lateral is 6-11/16 in. long and each filter uses eight of them. They are sold individually, so order the quantity you need. Since all eight have seen the same years of service, replacing the full set while the sand is out is usually the sensible move.

The laterals thread into the hub assembly, which is a separate part and only needs replacing if it is damaged. Reaching them means emptying the sand from the tank, so plan the job around a sand change.

How many do I need?
Eight per filter. If one has cracked, the rest are the same age, so many people replace the set while the sand is out.
Does it fit the TR100 or TR140?
This 6-11/16 in. lateral is specified for the TR40, TR50 and TR60. Check the parts list for your model before ordering it for anything else.
Do I need the hub as well?
Only if the hub is damaged. The hub assembly is a separate part; the laterals thread into it.
Do I have to remove the sand?
Yes. The laterals sit at the bottom of the tank under the sand bed, so the sand has to come out to reach them.
