Product details

The Pentair 154437 is the plastic air relief tube for the TR100 sand filter, in the version specified for units built before 11/99. It is the genuine Pentair part.

What it does

The tube runs up inside the filter to the air relief valve. Air that collects at the top of the tank has to reach the valve to be bled off, and this is the path it takes. When the tube cracks or breaks away, the filter will not bleed properly and air stays trapped where it does no good.

Getting the right one

The date matters here. Pentair specifies a different tube for TR100 filters built before November 1999, and this listing is that earlier version. The record also files this part under the Triton II group covering the TR40 through TR140, the Triton C-3 group and the commercial TR100C and TR140C group, so the safest approach is to order against the part number and the build date on your filter label rather than the model family alone.

Before you open the filter

Shut the pump off and release all pressure at the relief valve before you take anything apart. A filter under pressure is not something to open.
