Product details

Pentair 154438 is the air relief tube for the Triton TR140 sand filter built before November 1999. It measures 27 inches long with a 1/4 inch outside diameter, and it is the genuine manufacturer part.

Why the tube matters

Air always ends up at the top of a filter tank, whether it came in when the pump lost prime or when the tank was opened for service. The air relief tube reaches that high point and carries the air out to the manual relief valve, which is how you bleed the filter before bringing the system back up. If the tube is cracked, kinked or missing, the valve draws water rather than air and the pocket at the top of the tank never clears.

Check the build date

This part is listed for the TR140 made before 11/99. Pentair revised the Triton filters over their long production run, so read the date on the tank label instead of matching the model number alone.

How do I know if I have the right version?
This tube is listed for the TR140 built before 11/99. Check the date on your tank label, because Pentair changed parts on the later filters.
What are the dimensions?
It is 27 inches long with a 1/4 inch outside diameter.
What does the air relief tube actually do?
Air collects at the highest point inside the tank. The tube gives that air a path out to the manual relief valve so you can bleed the filter after servicing or after the pump has lost prime.
Why replace a tube that looks fine?
Thin plastic tubing hardens and cracks with heat and age, and a hairline split near a fitting is easy to miss. If the relief valve spits water without ever clearing the air, the tube is a likely cause.
