The Pentair 152202Z is the replacement lateral for the TA100 and TR100 filters. It measures 9-1/8 inches and is the genuine Pentair part.
What a lateral does
Laterals sit at the bottom of the filter and radiate out from the hub. Their fine slots let filtered water leave the tank while holding the filter media back. Because every drop of filtered water passes through them, a lateral that has cracked or split sends media straight into the return plumbing.
When to replace one
Media appearing in the pool after a backwash, or a filter that never quite clears, points at the laterals. Once the tank is open they can be checked by eye for splits and worn slots.
