The Pentair 154559Z is the tan 6 inch V thread top closure, the dome lid for PacFab TR Triton sand filters built before 12-1-91. It is the genuine Pentair part, molded in plastic.

Check the date before you order

This is the detail that trips people up. Pentair listed this closure for TR Triton filters made before 12-1-91, and the closure design changed after that. A filter that looks identical from across the pad can take a completely different lid, so find the date on your filter and confirm the thread type before ordering.

V thread against buttress thread

The two threads look similar until you put them side by side. V threads are pointed in profile, buttress threads are squared. Pentair also lists an 8-1/2 inch buttress thread top closure as its own part, so if that is what your filter takes, this is not the right lid.

Will this fit my Triton filter?
Only if the filter was built before 12-1-91 and uses the 6 inch V thread closure. Pentair changed the closure design, so the date on the filter is what decides it.
How do I tell a V thread from a buttress thread?
V threads come to a point in profile, buttress threads are squared off. If yours is the larger 8-1/2 inch buttress type, Pentair lists that top closure separately.
Does it come in another color?
No. This closure is made in tan only.
