Product details

This is the Waterway 711-1920 gasket for the sand filter valve joint on the older Clearwater sand filter. It is a clear white round gasket with ridges across the face and a slight lip at the inside edge.

Which valve it suits

It belongs on filters fitted with the clamp style valve, where a band clamps the valve down to the tank. The later split nut style valve does not use this gasket at all, it seals with an o-ring, so identify the valve on your filter before ordering. A quick look at the joint answers it: a band clamp means this gasket, a large threaded nut means the o-ring.

Dimensions

The gasket measures 7-1/8 inches across the outside and 5-5/8 inches across the inside. Thickness is about 1/8 inch at the outer edge and 1/4 inch at the inside lip. Note the way the old gasket sat as you take it out so the lip goes back the same way.

Will this fit my newer Clearwater valve?
Probably not. This gasket is for the older clamp style valve. The newer split nut style valve seals with an o-ring rather than this gasket.
What size is it?
7-1/8 inch outside diameter, 5-5/8 inch inside diameter, about 1/8 inch thick at the outside and 1/4 inch at the inside lip.
Which way does it face?
The gasket has ridges on one face and a slight lip at the inside edge. That lip seats toward the inside of the joint, so match the way the old one came out.
How do I tell which valve I have?
Look at how the valve holds to the tank. A band clamp around the joint means the clamp style, which uses this gasket. A large threaded split nut means the newer style, which uses an o-ring.
