Product details

The Pentair 154715 is the sand drain gasket used on Meteor style top mount sand filters. It is the genuine Pentair part, the same seal fitted at the factory.

What it does

The drain at the base of a sand tank is opened to empty the filter for winter or to work on the laterals. The cap threads down onto this gasket, and the gasket is what actually holds the water back. Rubber that has sat compressed for several seasons goes hard and takes the shape of the cap, so it no longer springs back against the tank. That is when the filter starts to weep at the drain and no amount of extra torque on the cap will stop it.

What it fits

Pentair lists this gasket for the American Products Eclipse and Meteor top mount filter systems, the Pentair Sand Dollar top mount sand filter, and the Sta-Rite Cristal-Flo II top mount sand filter. It is a good part to have on hand before you open the tank, since the old gasket rarely goes back in well.
