The Pentair 152226 is the stand pipe assembly for PacFab Sand Dollar SD80 sand filters. It is the genuine OEM part and it arrives complete: the standpipe, the lateral hub and six laterals.
What it does
The laterals sit at the bottom of the sand bed and are slotted finely enough to let filtered water back out while holding the sand in the tank. The standpipe carries that water up to the valve. When a lateral cracks, sand goes straight through the break and out into the pool, which is the symptom most owners see first.
Before you order
Check the model on the filter label. This assembly is listed for the SD80, and a different stand pipe assembly is stocked for the SD60. The two are not interchangeable.
The job itself
The sand has to come out of the tank before the assembly can be lifted, so this is a repair to combine with a sand change rather than one to do twice.
