Product details

The Pentair 152000 is the pipe assembly for the Cristal-Flo II high rate sand filter with a 24 inch tank, listed as the SD70 standpipe and also carried for the Sand Dollar top mount filter.

What the standpipe does

It is the vertical pipe that runs up the center of the tank. Water passes down through the sand bed, in through the laterals at the bottom, and back up the standpipe to the valve. Everything filtered by the tank goes through it.

Why it fails

A cracked standpipe or a broken joint at the top lets water skip the sand bed entirely, and the first sign is usually sand blowing back into the pool. Because standpipes are sized to the tank, confirm you have the 24 inch Cristal-Flo II before ordering.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which filter does this fit?
Pentair lists 152000 as the pipe assembly for the Cristal-Flo II high rate sand filter with a 24 inch tank, and also for the Sand Dollar top mount filter.
Is the 24 inch measurement the tank or the pipe?
The tank. A 24 inch tank refers to the diameter of the filter body, and the standpipe is sized to match it.
Why would a standpipe need replacing?
It is what carries filtered water from the laterals up to the valve. A crack in the pipe or a broken joint lets unfiltered water and sand bypass the bed, which is why sand starts showing up in the pool.
Does it include the laterals?
This is the pipe assembly. Check the parts breakdown for your filter to see which pieces come with it before you order.
