Product details

The Sta-Rite 14965-0025 is the threaded drain cap for Cristal-Flo sand filter systems. It is the genuine Sta-Rite part.

What it does

The cap closes the drain port at the base of the filter tank. It comes out whenever the filter is drained down for service or for winter, and goes back in to seal the tank for the season.

Why they fail

Drain caps take more handling than almost any other part on a filter. Threads get crossed, plastic goes brittle in the sun, and hairline cracks open up. The result is usually not a burst but a slow weep that empties the tank quietly. Fit a fresh cap, and order the Cristal-Flo drain cap o-ring at the same time, since the two seal together.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Does the o-ring come with it?
No. The Cristal-Flo drain cap o-ring is a separate Sta-Rite part, and it is worth ordering alongside the cap.
Which filters does it fit?
It is listed for Sta-Rite Cristal-Flo sand filter systems.
Is it a genuine Sta-Rite part?
Yes. It is Sta-Rite part number 14965-0025.
My filter is losing water slowly, could it be the drain cap?
It is a common culprit. The cap comes out at every drain down and gets cross threaded or cracked, and the resulting weep is slow enough to go unnoticed for weeks.
