Product details
The Waterway 711-1910B is the diverter spider gasket, also called the valve seat gasket, for Waterway filter valves. It is molded in white rubber with a four spoke pattern.
Dimensions
The gasket measures 5-1/4 inches across the outside with a 15/16 inch inside hole. Each of the four spokes is 3/8 inch wide. Those figures are worth checking against the gasket you are removing, since spider gaskets look alike across brands and only the exact one seals.
What goes wrong
The spider gasket is what the rotating diverter presses against to keep the valve ports separated. When it flattens, tears at a spoke, or hardens until it no longer stands proud of its groove, water crosses between ports. The symptoms are familiar: water going to waste while the valve is set to filter, backwash that never quite stops, or a filter that will not build pressure. Replacing the gasket restores the seal the whole valve depends on.
