The Hayward SPX0710XD is the five spoke valve seat gasket for X body multiport backwash valves. It is the genuine Hayward part.
What it seals
The seat gasket sits under the rotor in a multiport valve and is what keeps each port separated from the next. When it wears, cracks or takes a piece of grit, water crosses between ports. The way that shows up on a pool is water running out of the waste line while the handle is set to filter, or the pressure never quite behaving, or a trickle out of waste that never stops.
Body version matters
Hayward built these valves in more than one body version, and the gaskets are not shared between them. This is the gasket specified for the X body. Check the casting on your valve and the parts list for your model before you order, because a gasket for the wrong body will not seal even though it looks close.
Fitting and dimensions
Outside diameter is 5-5/16 in. and the center hole is 3/4 in. inside diameter. It is listed for the SP0710, SP0710X, SP0711 and SP0712. When you have the valve apart, wipe the seat face completely clean. Sand or a shell fragment left on the seat will cut into the new gasket the first time the valve is turned under pressure, and you will be back inside the valve within a season.
