Product details

The Waterway 600-9500 is the replacement multiport valve diverter, supplied with its gasket, for select Waterway backwash valves. It is the internal that does the actual work of switching the valve.

Why the diverter wears out

Every time the handle moves, the diverter drags across the port seats and its gasket takes the load of sealing them. After enough seasons the sealing face flattens or nicks, and water starts crossing between ports. The usual sign is a valve that dribbles to waste while the system is filtering, or a backwash that never quite develops full flow.

What does the diverter actually do?
It is the moving internal that seals one set of ports and opens another as you turn the valve handle, which is how the valve switches between filter, backwash, rinse and the rest.
Does the gasket come with it?
Yes. Waterway 600-9500 is supplied as the diverter with its gasket.
How do I confirm this is my part?
The diverter has 602-1910 molded into the top. If your old part carries that marking, this is the matching replacement.
Will this fix a valve that leaks to waste while filtering?
It is the usual cause. When the diverter or its gasket is worn, water bypasses the seal and trickles out of the waste line, and replacing the internal restores the seal.
