Product details

The Pentair 271104 is the five spoke spider gasket for a top mount multiport valve. It measures 5-3/16 in across the outside, has a 3/4 in center hole and is 1/4 in thick.

What it seals

Inside a multiport valve, a rotating diverter presses down onto this gasket. The spokes of the gasket divide the valve body into separate ports, and every setting on the handle, filter, backwash, rinse, waste, works only because those ports stay isolated from one another. The gasket is the seal doing that job.

When it has failed

Rubber hardens, takes a set, or tears at a spoke. Once it does, water crosses between ports inside the valve, and the visible symptoms follow: sand or DE returning to the pool, water running to waste while the valve is set to filter, or pressure that will not build. Replacing the spider gasket is the first repair to try in all of those cases.

What does a spider gasket do?
It sits under the rotating diverter in a multiport valve and seals each port from its neighbors. Every position on the valve handle depends on that seal to send water only where it is supposed to go.
How do I confirm this is the right gasket?
Measure the old one. This gasket is 5-3/16 in across the outside, has a 3/4 in center hole and is 1/4 in thick. If those three numbers match, it is the right part.
Which valves is it listed for?
The source lists it as the gasket for a 1-1/2 in multiport valve, and also files it with six position top mount valve parts for models 501131, 501130 and 501231. Measure before ordering if your valve is not one of those.
Why is sand coming back into my pool through the multiport?
