Quick overview

  • Sta-Rite part 14971-SM10E8 Ordered by part number so the right washer arrives the first time.
  • Multiport valve part Listed with Sta-Rite multiport valve parts rather than with the filter tank.
  • Top mount and side mount Carried under both the 2 in. top mount Cristal Flo valve and the 1-1/2 in. and 2 in. side mount valve parts lists.
  • Small part, real job Washers set how hard the valve internals clamp, and a flattened one shows up as a leak or a soft handle.
  • Worth doing with a rebuild If the valve is already open for a spider gasket or an o-ring, replace the washer while you are in there.
  • Genuine Sta-Rite The factory part rather than a hardware store substitute of roughly the right size.

Product details

The Sta-Rite 14971-SM10E8 is the valve washer used in Sta-Rite multiport filter valves. It is carried under the 2 in. top mount Cristal Flo valve 14971-TM-22-L and under the 1-1/2 in. and 2 in. side mount valves 18202-150 and 18201-0200.

Small part, real job

A multiport valve works because its internals are held under even pressure. Washers are part of how that pressure is set, and once one is flattened or distorted the symptom shows up somewhere else: a handle that turns too easily, water where it should not be, or a diverter that no longer seats. Replacing the worn piece is cheaper than chasing the symptom.

Order by number

Valve hardware looks similar across models and eras, so match the factory number rather than the shape. Compare the new washer to the one you removed before you close the valve back up.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which valves is this washer listed under?
Sta-Rite multiport valves: the 2 in. top mount Cristal Flo model 14971-TM-22-L, and the 1-1/2 in. and 2 in. side mount models 18202-150 and 18201-0200.
Is this a single washer?
It is listed as the valve washer, part number 14971-SM10E8. Compare it to the piece you removed before reassembly.
Should I replace anything else at the same time?
Most valve repairs go better as a set. If the valve is apart, look at the spider gasket, the shaft o-ring and the spring while you have access.
Is this a genuine Sta-Rite part?
Yes. It is the Sta-Rite part, ordered by the factory number 14971-SM10E8.
