Pentair 272550 is the sight glass with vacuum projector for Pentair multiport valves. It is the genuine Pentair part.
What it does
The sight glass is the clear window in the waste line coming off the multiport valve. When you backwash a sand or DE filter, that window is how you judge the job: the water leaves dark and dirty, and you run the backwash until it comes through clear. A clouded, crazed or cracked sight glass takes that judgment away, so you either stop too early and leave the filter loaded, or run far longer than needed and dump water for nothing.
Fitment
This version is the one fitted with the vacuum projector. It is used across the Pentair PacFab top mount and side mount multiport valves, the American Products H and M Series valves, and the Pentair Praher multiport valves.
Fitting it
The glass threads into the valve body. Seal the threads with a sealant made for pool plumbing and tighten it by feel. Overtightening is the usual reason a new sight glass fails early.
