Product details

The Pentair 272599 is the replacement decal for top mount multiport valves. It is the genuine Pentair part, printed with the position layout that goes on the valve top.

Why it wears out

The decal sits face up in full sun, gets splashed with pool water and takes a scrub every time the valve top is cleaned. After a few seasons the print fades and the position names disappear, and at that point the valve is being operated from memory.

Why that matters

Multiport positions are not interchangeable. Filter, backwash, rinse, waste, recirculate and closed each send water somewhere different, and picking the wrong one can drain the pool to waste or push filter media back into the returns. A readable decal is the cheapest way to stop that happening.

Fitting

Check that the position order on the new decal matches your valve before you remove the old one. Peel the old decal, clean the valve top so the adhesive has a dry surface, then lay the new decal down aligned to the handle stops.

Why replace a decal at all?
Because the multiport positions have real consequences. A faded label makes it easy to backwash when you meant to rinse, or to run to waste with the pump on, and that drains the pool.
