The Jandy R0487400 is the lid O-ring for the JS100-SM filter. It is the genuine Jandy part, sized to the groove in the filter lid.
What it does
The lid O-ring is the only thing between the pressurised inside of the filter and the equipment pad. When it flattens, cracks or picks up grit, the lid starts to weep during a run, or the system draws air in at the top of the tank and the pump loses prime.
Fitting
Lift the old ring out, wipe the groove and the mating face clean, then seat the new ring. A silicone based O-ring lubricant helps it settle evenly and keeps the lid from binding the next time it comes off. Since the ring is inexpensive and only reachable with the lid open, it is worth changing whenever the filter is serviced.
