Product details
The Waterway 505-3010 is the multi-port valve split nut assembly for Carefree, ClearWater and TWM sand filters. It is the clamp that holds the valve onto the top of the tank.
What it does
The multi-port valve does not thread into the tank. It sits on top and is held there by a split nut that pulls it down evenly against the seal. Everything about how the valve behaves under pressure depends on that clamp being intact and pulling square.
Why they get replaced
Split nuts are plastic and they are the first thing someone over tightens when a valve starts to seep. Once the nut is cracked or has stripped, no amount of turning will bring the valve down evenly, and the leak comes back every time. A fresh assembly restores the clamping load the seal was designed around.
