Product details
The Hayward SX200H is the bottom drain screen for the S-200 and S-240 side mount sand filters and the S-160T two piece top mount sand filter. It is the genuine Hayward part.
What it does
The screen covers the drain opening at the base of the tank. When the filter is drained, water leaves and the sand does not, because the screen holds the media back. Without it, or with a cracked one, sand goes out through the drain and can end up in the plumbing below the pad.
When to change it
The screen only becomes visible when the tank is open, so a media change is the natural time to inspect it. Look for cracks around the rim and broken mesh. It costs far less than the sand it protects, and refitting the old one to save a few dollars is a poor trade.
