Hayward changed parts on these tanks in 1980, and the model badge alone will not tell you which side of that line your filter sits on. Look for a date on the tank or the label before ordering, and compare the old o-ring against the new one when it arrives.
Fitting it
Clean the groove and the mating face before the new o-ring goes in, so nothing is trapped under it. Use a silicone based o-ring lubricant and nothing petroleum based; petroleum grease swells rubber and a new o-ring fitted with it will be soft and leaking again within a season. A light film is enough, since too much lubricant picks up grit.
