Product details

The Hayward GMX600N is the metal flange valve clamp listed for the GM1426 and S140T sand filters. It is the genuine Hayward part.

What it does

On a top mount filter the valve does not thread into the tank. It sits on the tank flange against an o-ring, and a clamp band pulls the two together. That clamp is carrying the pressure of the whole system, which is why a corroded or cracked one shows up as a weep at the valve base long before it fails outright.

Where it is listed

Beyond the GM1426 and S140T reference in the name, Hayward carries this clamp in the parts groups for the S190T and S245T sand filters, the GM-152 and GM152HV, the GM-140, GM-142 and GM-142-6, and the Dream Line filters S170TSCPE, S190TSCPE, S190TSCPFT and S190TSCPT. Check your tank against the parts diagram for your filter before ordering.

While the valve is off, look at the flange o-ring. A clamp that has rusted through has usually been leaking for a while, and refitting a new clamp over a flattened o-ring only moves the problem.

Metal. It is the Hayward OEM metal flange valve clamp.
Should I replace the o-ring at the same time?
