Why the clear wall matters

A transparent hose lets you see whether water is actually moving, and whether it is carrying sand or debris. That turns a guess into a glance when a system is not performing the way it should.

When to replace it

Hoses on a filter package live outdoors in sunlight and pool chemistry. Over the years they cloud, stiffen and eventually split, usually at a fitting where the hose has been clamped. A split there leaks under pressure or lets the pump lose prime, so a hose that has gone hard and hazy is worth changing before it fails.
