Where it goes

In Hayward's parts lists the SX200Z5 sits directly with the manual air relief cap, SX200G, on top of the filter, and on ProSeries Plus filters it is drawn beside the relief valve and gauge adapter assembly, DEX2400S. It seals that connection so water stays inside the tank.

When to replace it

O-rings flatten, harden and crack with age. A drip or weep around the air relief or the pressure gauge while the pump runs is the usual sign that this ring has given out. A light coat of silicone o-ring lubricant helps the new one seat without pinching.
