Product details

The Hayward SX180K is the filter base for the S180T and S166T sand filters, supplied with the screws and washers that fasten the tank to it. It is the genuine Hayward part, listed for filters from 1999 to the present.

What the base does

The base is the only thing between the tank and the pad. A loaded sand filter is heavy, and the base carries all of that weight plus the water in the tank. When one cracks or the mounting points break away, the tank sits unevenly and puts strain on the plumbing above it, so it is worth changing rather than shimming.

Ordering

Check the model number on your filter label first. The S180T and S166T share this base, but Hayward uses different bases across the rest of the range, and the tank diameter is what decides which one is correct.
