Product details
The Pentair 154453Z is the 1.25 inch lateral hub assembly for the Triton II sand filter, models TR100 and TR140. It is a genuine Pentair part, molded in plastic.
Where it sits
The hub is the manifold at the bottom of the sand tank. Laterals thread into it in a circle, gather filtered water out of the media bed, and pass it into the standpipe on its way back to the pool. Every gallon that leaves the filter goes through this piece.
Why it fails
Hubs crack from age, from the shock of a dry start, and from mishandling during a sand change. Once the plastic splits, media escapes at the break instead of being held back by the lateral slots. The symptom is sand in the pool, usually right after a backwash, and it will not stop until the hub is replaced.
