Product details

The Pentair 154453Z is the 1.25 inch lateral hub assembly for the Triton II sand filter, models TR100 and TR140. It is a genuine Pentair part, molded in plastic.

Where it sits

The hub is the manifold at the bottom of the sand tank. Laterals thread into it in a circle, gather filtered water out of the media bed, and pass it into the standpipe on its way back to the pool. Every gallon that leaves the filter goes through this piece.

Why it fails

Hubs crack from age, from the shock of a dry start, and from mishandling during a sand change. Once the plastic splits, media escapes at the break instead of being held back by the lateral slots. The symptom is sand in the pool, usually right after a backwash, and it will not stop until the hub is replaced.

What is included

The hub assembly itself. Individual laterals are separate Pentair parts, and it is worth inspecting all of them while the tank is open.

Which filters does this hub fit?
The Pentair Triton II sand filter, models TR100 and TR140.
What is the hub for?
It is the center piece at the base of the tank that the laterals screw into. The laterals collect filtered water and the hub carries it to the standpipe.
What happens if it cracks?
Sand goes where water should. A split hub or a broken lateral port lets media into the return plumbing, and you see sand in the pool.
Do laterals come with it?
No. This is the hub assembly. Laterals are separate Pentair parts.
