Product details

The Pentair 152519Z is the 6 in. buttress thread closure for Triton II side mount sand filters built after 12-1-91. It replaces the earlier part number 154570.

Get the thread right

Pentair used two thread forms on Triton tanks, buttress and V thread, and they are not interchangeable. Before ordering, look at the thread on the tank opening rather than going by the model name alone. This is the buttress version.

Where it belongs

The closure caps the 6 in. opening at the top of the tank. It is listed in the Pentair parts breakdown that covers the Triton II TR40, TR50, TR60, TR100 and TR140.

While you have it apart

The closure o-ring is a separate part. A closure that has been leaking has usually taken the o-ring with it, so it is worth having a new one to hand.

How do I know whether I need the buttress or the V thread closure?
Look at the thread on the tank opening. Pentair used both on Triton filters, and they do not interchange. This listing is the buttress thread version for tanks built after 12-1-91.
