The Pentair LA05LZ is the new style impeller for the Letro booster pump. It is the genuine Pentair part, made in plastic to the original pattern, and it appears in the Letro booster pump parts listing under LA01N.

What the impeller does

A booster pump exists to give a pressure side cleaner more water pressure than the filter pump alone can supply. The impeller is the piece that does that work. When its vanes wear, crack or lose a section, the pump still runs and still sounds normal, but the pressure at the cleaner falls off and the cleaner slows down or stops driving.

Old style and new style

Letro booster pumps use more than one impeller version. This listing is the new style, LA05LZ. Open the pump and match the part you are holding rather than ordering by pump name.

While you are in there

The impeller threads onto the motor shaft, which means the pump has to come apart to reach it. That is the same teardown as a shaft seal replacement, so most techs fit a new seal in the same visit.

What is the difference between the new style and the old style impeller?
They are separate parts. LA05LZ is the new style, so check which version is fitted to your Letro booster pump before ordering rather than going by the pump name alone.
How do I know the impeller is the problem?
A booster pump that runs but will not push the cleaner, or that has clearly lost pressure with a clean strainer and no leaks, points at the impeller.
Should I replace the shaft seal at the same time?
It is the usual practice. Taking the impeller off the shaft is most of the work of a seal change, so doing both in one go saves opening the pump twice.
Is this a genuine Pentair part?
