Product details
This is the Polaris P55, the OEM motor shaft seal for the PB4-60 booster pump. The PB4-60 is the pump that supplies pressure to a Polaris pressure side cleaner, and this seal is what keeps water on the wet side of it.
The failure it fixes
The shaft seal sits where the motor shaft passes into the volute. When it wears, water finds its way along the shaft and shows up as a drip between the motor and the pump body. That is not just a nuisance leak. Water tracking down the shaft ends up in the motor bearings, and a seal left too long is how a cheap repair becomes a motor replacement.
Doing the job
Have what you need before you open the pump. The o-rings are worth inspecting while it is apart, and a silicone lubricant makes reassembly cleaner. If you are not committed to the factory part, a generic PS1000 style seal also fits this pump and is sold separately.
