What a diffuser does

The diffuser sits over the impeller inside the pump housing. Water leaving the impeller is fast and turbulent, and the diffuser is the shaped passage that slows it down and converts that speed into pressure. It also sets the running clearance around the impeller, which is why the two are always matched as a pair.

Get the rating right
