The Hayward SPX3016C is the replacement impeller for Super II pumps built after 1989. It is the genuine Hayward part, molded in plastic to the same shape as the one that left the factory.
What the impeller does
The impeller is the spinning vane pack inside the pump that actually moves the water. It wears from the inside out: the vane edges round off, the passages pack with debris and scale, and the pump loses pressure and turnover long before it makes any obvious noise. Owners often replace a filter or chase a suction leak when the impeller is what has gone.
