The Hayward SPX0125F is the motor shaft slinger used on the Super Pump, Super II and Max-Flo families. It is a small molded plastic ring that sits on the motor shaft, and it is also listed under the number G-71.
What it is there for
Water that works its way past the shaft seal has to go somewhere. The slinger turns with the shaft and flings that water outward, away from the motor end, instead of letting it creep along the shaft and into the bearings. It costs almost nothing and it is the difference between a wet seal plate and a ruined motor.
