Why the basket matters
The strainer basket is the last thing standing between your skimmer and the impeller. Leaves, acorns, pebbles and hair all end up here, and as long as the basket holds its shape they stay here. A basket that has cracked at the lip or gone soft with age lets that debris past, and clearing an impeller is a far bigger job than dropping in a new basket.
