Why the lid gasket matters
The strainer pot is under suction whenever the pump runs. If the gasket is flat, cracked or sitting proud of its groove, the pump pulls air past the lid instead of water. The basket sits half full, flow drops and the pump loses prime, and owners usually go looking for a plumbing leak first.
Fitting it
