This is the replacement strainer basket for the Hayward Super II pool pump, SuperPro part B-207. It is the generic equivalent of the Hayward SPX3000M and fits the Super II pumps listed as SP3000 and SP3000X.
What the basket does
Every bit of water that reaches the impeller passes through this basket first. It catches leaves, twigs, hair and stones before they can reach the volute. A basket that has split at the rim or lost mesh looks fine sitting in the pot but is no longer filtering anything, and the debris it should have caught ends up wedged in the impeller.
Generic part
This basket is made by a manufacturer other than Hayward, so the color may not match the one you take out. The fit and the function are the same. If you want the factory basket, that is a separate Hayward item.
