Product details
The Hayward SPX3005R is the hi performance impeller ring for the Super II pump family. It measures 2-3/8 in. outside diameter and 1-7/8 in. inside diameter, and it is matched to the SPX3007C, SPX3010C and SPX3015C impellers.
Two numbers, one part
The ring has SP3005R molded into it, so that is the number most people read off the old one when they pull the pump apart. Hayward sells it as SPX3005R. They are the same ring.
What the ring does
It is the fixed surface the impeller spins inside. The tighter that clearance stays, the more water the pump moves for the same power. As the ring wears the gap opens up, water slips back past the impeller instead of going down the return line, and the pump quietly loses performance without ever sounding wrong.
Fitting
If you are already in far enough to see the ring you are in far enough to change the impeller, and the two wear together. Fitting a new impeller into a worn ring recovers only part of the flow you lost.
