Product details

The Hayward SPX2600E5 is the seal plate for SP2600X series pumps. It is the plate that sits between the motor and the wet end and carries the shaft seal.

What it does

The seal plate has one important job. It holds the shaft seal in exactly the right place so pool water stays on the pump side and the motor stays dry. If the plate is cracked, warped from heat, or the seal bore is worn or chewed from a previous repair, a brand new seal will still leak, because the seal has nothing true to sit against.

When to replace it

The plate comes off during any shaft seal job, so that is the moment to inspect it. Look for hairline cracks around the bolt bosses, distortion, and damage in the bore where the seal seats. Plan on fitting a new shaft seal at the same time, since the old one is not meant to be reused once disturbed.
