Product details

Jacuzzi 42356907R is the 8-1/2" by 12" DE filter grid used in the Landslide LS40 and Avalanche AV40 filters. Four of this size are required, out of the 6 grids the filter holds in total.

What the grid does

A DE filter does not filter through the grid itself. The grid is a frame with a fabric skin, and the diatomaceous earth you add coats that fabric. The coating is the filter medium. The grid just has to hold it evenly and stay intact under flow.

When to replace one

A tear or a seam split lets DE pass straight through, which comes back as powder in the pool and a return that never quite clears after a recharge. Check each grid against the light with the manifold out. Because grids age together, a set that is starting to fail in one place is usually not far off failing elsewhere, and replacing a single grid alongside five worn ones often means opening the filter again before long.
