The Pentair 59009800 is the large DE filter grid assembly, rated at 88 GPM. It is the genuine Pentair part, supplied as a complete grid.
What the grid does
A DE filter works by holding a coat of diatomaceous earth on the fabric of its grids. The powder does the filtering, the grid holds it in place. When the fabric tears or pulls away from the frame, the DE goes straight through and comes back into the pool through the returns.
Ordering
This is the large grid. Pentair grid sets pair full size grids with a shorter partial, so check which one you are missing before ordering. Since the whole set ages at the same rate, it is worth inspecting the rest while the filter is apart.
