Product details

The Pentair 59023500 is the complete internal grid assembly for the 36 sq ft FNS Plus DE filter. Rather than a loose set of grids to fit one at a time, it arrives as the whole element: manifold, grids, grid retainer and thru rod, assembled and ready to set into the tank.

When to replace the element

DE grids wear over years of backwashing and acid washing. Torn fabric lets DE pass back to the pool, blinded fabric shortens the cycle between cleanings, and a cracked manifold bypasses the grids altogether. If more than one or two grids are past saving, replacing the assembly as a unit is faster than rebuilding and gets the filter back to its rated flow in one step.

Fit

This assembly is sized for the 36 sq ft FNS Plus tank. The 48 and 60 sq ft models take taller grids and a different part number, so check the label on your tank before ordering. It is the genuine Pentair part listed on the FNS Plus parts diagram.

What is included in the assembly?
The manifold, the full set of grids, the grid retainer and the thru rod, already assembled. It is the entire internal element for the filter.
Which filter does it fit?
The Pentair FNS Plus DE filter in the 36 sq ft size. The 48 and 60 sq ft FNS Plus filters use taller grid assemblies with their own part numbers.
Can I just replace one torn grid instead?
You can buy individual grids, but if several grids are worn or the manifold is cracked, the complete assembly is the quicker and often the better value repair.
How do I know the grids need replacing?
Signs are DE returning to the pool, short cycles between backwashes even after a thorough clean, and grid fabric that is torn, brittle or coated with a scale that a cleaner will not remove.
