Product details

The SuperPro FC-9825 is a replacement DE filter grid measuring 11 inches by 18 inches. It is sold as a single element so you can change just the one that has failed.

How a DE grid works

The grid itself does not do the filtering. Diatomaceous earth is drawn out of the skimmer and coats the fabric, and it is that thin cake of powder that catches the fine dirt. The grid is the frame and the cloth that hold the cake in place while water passes through.

When to replace one

DE returning to the pool after you charge the filter is the classic sign. So is a filter that will not hold pressure or that keeps needing more powder. Open the tank, lift the grid assembly out and look at each element for tears, split seams and crushed frames. Measure whatever you pull out, because a grid set usually contains more than one size.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

What size is this grid?
It measures 11 inches by 18 inches.
Is this one grid or a full set?
It is a single grid. A DE filter holds a set of grids, often in more than one size, so count what you need and check the size of each before ordering.
Why is DE coming back into my pool?
The usual cause is a grid with a tear or an open seam, which lets the powder through instead of holding it. Pull the grid assembly and inspect each element.
How do I know which size to order?
Take the old grid out and measure it. This listing covers the 11 by 18 inch element only.
