How a DE grid works
A DE filter does not filter with the grid itself. The grid is a fabric covered frame that holds a coat of diatomaceous earth, and that powder is what traps the dirt. When the fabric tears or the seams open, the DE washes straight through and comes back to the pool as a cloudy plume at the returns.
Getting the right one
