Jacuzzi 4638-03B is a 7 inch by 18 inch DE filter grid. Two are required, and it is listed for the Jacuzzi Earthworks original style filters, models EW75, EW100, EW125 and EW150.
What a grid does
A DE filter does not filter with the grid itself. The grid is a fabric covered frame, and the diatomaceous earth you add through the skimmer coats that fabric. The coat is the filter. The grid just holds it in the right shape and lets clean water pass through to the manifold.
Why they fail
Grid fabric wears at the seams and tears where debris has been trapped against it. Once a grid is open, DE goes straight through it and back to the pool, which is why fine white powder on the floor after a recharge points at the grid stack. Pull the stack, rinse it and look for damage before you replace anything.
Ordering
This is the narrower of the two sizes in the stack, and the wider grids are a separate part. Count and measure what you are removing.
