This is the genuine Jacuzzi 1/4 inch PVC air bleed assembly for Jacuzzi Earthworks DE filters and Jacuzzi Tri-Clops cartridge filters.
What it does
Air collects at the top of a filter tank every time the system is opened or the water level drops. The air bleed gives that air somewhere to go. Bleed it off and the tank fills completely, the full grid or cartridge area goes back to work and the pressure gauge reports real filter condition rather than a trapped pocket.
When to replace it
Air bleeds are small, they live at the highest point on the tank and they take the worst of the sun. Once the stem seizes, the seat will not close or the assembly weeps whenever the pump runs, replacing the whole assembly is faster and more reliable than trying to reseal the old one.
