Product details

This is the genuine Jacuzzi 1/4 inch PVC air bleed assembly for Jacuzzi Earthworks DE filters and Jacuzzi Tri-Clops cartridge filters.

What it does

Air collects at the top of a filter tank every time the system is opened or the water level drops. The air bleed gives that air somewhere to go. Bleed it off and the tank fills completely, the full grid or cartridge area goes back to work and the pressure gauge reports real filter condition rather than a trapped pocket.

When to replace it

Air bleeds are small, they live at the highest point on the tank and they take the worst of the sun. Once the stem seizes, the seat will not close or the assembly weeps whenever the pump runs, replacing the whole assembly is faster and more reliable than trying to reseal the old one.

On the part numbers

This item carries two numbers in the supplier data, 4669-08 and 42-2972-00-K. Match either against your filter documentation.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

Which part number is correct, 4669-08 or 42-2972-00-K?
Both appear in the source data for this item. 4669-08 is the listed manufacturer part number and 42-2972-00-K is given as the Jacuzzi part number, so check either against your filter paperwork.
What does the air bleed do?
It vents air trapped at the top of the filter tank. Without it, air pockets sit above the media, cut effective filter area and make the pressure gauge read high.
Does it fit both DE and cartridge filters?
Yes. The same assembly is used on the Jacuzzi Earthworks DE filters and the Jacuzzi Tri-Clops cartridge filters.
Mine drips constantly, is that normal?
No. A steady weep from the air bleed means the assembly is worn and it should be replaced rather than tightened further.
