Product details

The Hayward CXRLV1001 is the manual air relief assembly for SwimClear cartridge filters, supplied complete with its O-ring. It is the genuine Hayward part.

What it does

Air gathers at the top of a cartridge tank whenever the filter is opened, the water level falls or the pump loses prime. The relief valve on the filter head is how you let that air out. Until the air is gone the tank is not full of water, the pressure gauge does not read the filter honestly, and the lid takes a hard shove every time the pump restarts.

Why it fails

The relief sits on the highest, most exposed point of the filter, so it takes full sun and every temperature swing the equipment pad gets. The plastic goes brittle and the O-ring flattens, and the valve starts to weep, seize or refuse to seal once it is closed. At that point the assembly is replaced rather than repaired.

Before you order

Our source material lists this part against more than one SwimClear grouping, so read the model number off the label on your filter and check it against the Hayward parts list for that tank. When you fit the new one, run it down hand tight. Overtightening a plastic relief valve cracks the housing or the seat it threads into.

Exactly which SwimClear filters does it fit?
The source is not consistent. It files this part under SwimClear models C200SC and C225SC, while the parts diagram it points to covers C100S, C150S and C200S. Check the model number on your filter label against the Hayward parts list for that tank before you order.
Does the O-ring come with it?
Yes. Hayward supplies CXRLV1001 as the air relief assembly together with its O-ring.
Why does my filter need bleeding at all?
Air collects at the top of a cartridge tank every time the system is opened or the water level drops. Trapped air keeps the tank from filling, throws off the pressure reading and can push the lid hard when the pump restarts.
Mine is stuck or weeping. Is the whole assembly the fix?
Usually yes. A relief that drips, will not seat or has seized in the boss is normally replaced as a complete assembly rather than repaired.
