⌄The Hayward DEX2422Z2 is the tank seal that sits between the two halves of a Pro-Grid DE or SwimClear cartridge filter. Unlike a plain o-ring, it has a metal ring molded inside, which keeps the gasket seated in its groove while the clamp is drawn down and stops it from stretching or rolling out under pressure.
Fitment
It fits Pro-Grid DE2420, DE3620, DE4820, DE6020 and DE7220 DE filters and SwimClear C2020, C3020, C4020 and C5020 cartridge filters. It applies only to tanks built after March 2009 that use the DEX2421JKIT aluminum clamp. Earlier tanks take a different seal, so check the build date on the tank label before ordering.
Dimensions
Outside diameter is 20-5/8 in. and inside diameter is 19-7/8 in.
Installation
Clean both tank flanges, seat the seal in the groove without lubricant that could let it slip, then fit and tighten the clamp evenly. If the tank has been weeping at the belt line after a clean and reassemble, a tired seal is the usual cause.
