Product details

Hayward CXLRL1001 is the lid lock ring latch for the SwimClear cartridge filter. It is the genuine Hayward part, and it is the piece that pulls the lock ring closed around the filter lid.

What it does

The SwimClear lid is held on by a lock ring, and the latch is what draws that ring tight and holds it. All of the clamping load goes through the latch, and it gets worked every time the filter is opened for a cartridge clean, which is why the latch is usually the part that cracks or loses tension long before the ring or the lid does. A filter must not be pressurized with the ring unlatched or only partly latched.

What does the latch actually do?
It is the latch on the lock ring that clamps the lid onto the filter body. Closing it is what holds the lid down against system pressure.
Is it a genuine Hayward part?
Yes. It is the Hayward part, number CXLRL1001.
Can I run the filter with a cracked latch?
No. The lock ring has to be fully latched before the system is pressurized. Replace a cracked or slack latch before the filter goes back into service.
