The Hayward CX3000J1 is the air relief filter, a stainless steel screen used in the air relief on SwimClear cartridge filters. It is the genuine Hayward replacement.
What it does
Every time the filter is opened for a cartridge clean, air has to be bled back out before the system runs properly. The air relief filter screens that passage so debris does not find its way in. It is a small part with a clear symptom when it clogs: bleeding air becomes slow or stops entirely, and the filter holds an air pocket it should have cleared.
